From July 9th to October 3rd, 2021, Hauser & Wirth St. Moritz presents “Map and Territory · Environmental Art from the Panza Collection,” an exhibition of works by minimal and conceptual artists from the collection of Giuseppe and Giovanna Panza.

Focusing on the relationship between the environment and minimal art, the artists included in the exhibition (Roni Horn, Jan Dibbets, Christiane Löhr, and Carole Seborovski, among others) engage with issues of the environment in their own unique interpretations. For example, in Jan Dibbets’s ‘Sea Horizon 0°-135°’ (1971, illustrated here) the artist creates a dialogue between nature and geometry, combining photography with land and minimal art

Other highlights of the exhibition include Hamish Fulton’s “Untitled” (1972) and “Dim Trails” (1972), Richard Nonas’s “Salita Nord №1 (1 Down)” (1974) and “Mound” (1975), Martin Puryear’s “Some Tales” (1975–1978), Carole Seborovski’s “Cross Shape Valley” (1986), Roni Horn’s “Thicket №1” (1989) and Christiane Löhr’s “Haararbeit (Lavoro di crine)” (2003).

About the Panza Collection: Over the course of five decades, Giuseppe and Giovanna Panza have created an important art collection that includes abstract expressionism, minimal and conceptual art, and environmental and land artists. Dr. Giuseppe Panza himself is considered a pioneer of land and environmental art, who once tried to create the first environmental art museum.
